The meeting, called to order at 6:15, featured updates on successful grassroots actions like the Citizens Bank boycott impacting ICE facility funding, and ongoing advocacy by groups such as the League of Women Voters. Representatives Sally Kearns and Kristen Kasner, along with Wayland officials Trudy, Dave Bernstein (Elvis Committee), and Miranda Jones, presented a detailed proposal for remote participation in open town meetings, highlighting technical, legal, and accessibility challenges, pilot program efforts, and the need for state legislative approval. The proposed system would use secure, auditable online voting, aiming to increase participation and inclusivity in Massachusetts towns.
