Hamilton Select Board 11.2.26

On November 2, 2026, the Hamilton Select Board discussed Town Hall’s delayed reopening due to an elevator inspection, upcoming board and committee vacancies, and a successful Halloween with enhanced police presence. Anne Giroux and Cathy Simons presented a proposed Hamilton Dark Sky bylaw, detailing residential lighting regulations (e.g., 3000K color temperature, 1500 lumens per fixture, shielding, compliance periods, and landscape lighting limits), referencing bylaws from Chelmsford, Maynard, Nantucket, and Becket, and recommending a general bylaw approach. The Board supported further public input, surveys, and coordination with the Planning Board. The meeting also covered a regional water system proposal with Wenham, outlining infrastructure upgrades ($12–14 million), PFAS compliance deadlines (2029), and the potential formation of a joint water district. Additional topics included appointing Lauren Lynch to the Environmental Impact Committee, reviewing capital planning policy revisions, and considering a warrant article to make the Town Clerk an appointed position.
