Accessibility Statement

Hamilton-Wenham Community Access & Media (HWCAM) is committed to supporting accessibility in public meeting coverage, government programming, educational content, and community media.

Our goal is to improve access consistent with the principles of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and World Wide Web Consortium Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA wherever reasonably achievable within our production, streaming, and archive environment.

Accessibility Measures

HWCAM currently provides:

  • Live closed captioning for many public meetings and eligible live programming
  • Captions on archived meeting recordings and video content when available
  • Transcripts for selected meetings and programs
  • Alternative text for website images where applicable
  • Browser-based playback designed for accessible viewing

Public Meetings and Archives

For live public meetings, presenters are encouraged to verbally identify visual materials so important information is also conveyed through audio.

Because meetings occur live and involve multiple speakers, caption accuracy may vary depending on source audio quality, microphone use, and speaker clarity.

Archived video is made available online for public access, with captions included where available. Requests for additional accessibility support will be reviewed when reasonably practicable.

Ongoing Improvement

HWCAM continues to review production workflows, captioning systems, website presentation, and archive practices as technology and accessibility standards evolve.

Individuals who experience difficulty accessing content may contact HWCAM for assistance.

Technology and Community Connection

At HWCAM, technology plays an important role in expanding access to local government, education, and community programming.

Our broadcast and streaming systems allow public meetings, community events, educational programs, and local productions to be delivered live and on demand across cable, web, and mobile platforms.

Live streaming and digital distribution help viewers stay connected whether they are watching from home, at work, or on the go. Programs can also be shared through social media and online platforms to extend community reach beyond traditional broadcast.

HWCAM continues to invest in production tools that improve reliability, accessibility, and audience engagement, including live captioning, digital archiving, and flexible multi-platform distribution.

By combining traditional community media service with evolving digital technology, HWCAM supports broader public access to local information and community participation.
